I'm currently a software engineer in the Conversational Machines
group,
IBM T.J.Watson research center, New York. I obtained my Ph.D
degree from the ECE department, University of Illinois,
Urbana-Champaign in 2001. I was born in P. R. China in
1973, and after almost twenty years of education, the end is
finally in sight. It's time for me to find out whether or not
all the things I've learned are truly useful and beneficial to
other people.

I'm the only son of my parents, who live in China right now. I
have a lovely wife named Qi Zhao, who is
a system analyst in Hatch Medical Center, Columbia University.
Previously she worked for GE Global Research in Albany.

I'm in the digital signal processing area, specializing in image
and video compression and transmission over networks. One of my
biggest obsession is computer programming. In my spare time I
also paint traditional Chinese pictures, compose, practice
calligraphy, and kick-boxing. Please check out my interests page for more.
